This is probably the scariest thing that has happened to Anthony and I as parents! We were putting the girls to bed and Katelynn asked to hold Adam. She was sitting in the center of her bed and out of the corner of my eye I saw Anthony hand him over to her. About 5 seconds later I heard the biggest "thud" as Adam fell and hit the wood floor. I picked him up and felt a huge bump. Anthony and I both totally panicked and could not think straight. He ran to a neighbors house to get someone to come over and stay with the girls while I called my sister freaking out.
We hoped in the car and headed to the ER. After we got there and I had calmed down a little I realized how ridiculous I looked. I had just taken a shower (not even brushed my hair) and was wearing shorts and a nursing tank top... anyways after going through triage and Adam laughing and smiling I began to feel like a crazy Mom that totally over reacted.
The doctor came in and said it was protocol to do a CT scan but he looked great. Adam did amazing and didn't make one peep during the entire scan. The doctor then came back in and said, "well the good news is..." and I kind of tuned him out waiting for the "but". Ends up poor Adam did have a skull fracture but no bleeding. We were told we could stay the night or go home and they gave us a list of stuff to watch for. By now it was after 1 am so we decided to go home.
We checked on him all night and he did great. However, the next day he decided to sleep the day away. Of course, this was a change in his "usual" habits so we had to take him in for another CT scan. Of course it was fine but the doctor said it is always better to have it checked! Hope we never have to go to the ER again!
Waiting for the second CT. This time it took ten times as long to do the scan because he would NOT stop screaming!! I felt so bad but there was nothing I could do to help him...
